The quintessential Newport experience includes seafood, historic mansions, and shopping on Thames. This charming costal city is the place where well renowend Gilded Age mansions sit oh so proudly and is one of those places that I keep coming back too.
I could easily spend a week in Newport sightseeing and shopping. There are so many things to do that it was hard to plan only 24 hours in the beautiful seaside city.
We first visited Newport four years ago,and we’ve made it a tradition to return anually ever since. This time around we came together with Andy and since we already seen all the mansions, we decided to take it chill and just enjoy exploring by foot.In my opinion, Newport, RI is one of the best walking shopping experiences in New England. From boutiques to chain stores to eclectic shops, there is something for every consumer. Of course we had to do the Cliff walk together with Andy, the views are spectacuar and the waves are the perfect baby soother (and you can take your stroller too since its wheelchair accesable).
Bringing Andy along, we imidietly knew we had to stay at the best hotel in Newport.
Our B&B was the 1760’s Francis Malbone House, coviniently located right on Thames street; this gorgeouse piece of property carries so much history that you really feel like you’ve traveled through time. Starting with the entry way where a perfectly manicured front yard welcomes you to the charming hallway, with a staircase that screems for you to do an impromtu photoshoot.
The lounge areas lead to the rooms, and each one is prettier than the other ( ours was the prettiest tho 😛 ).
Counting House Room was the most luxurious rooms in the property with state of the art amenities and a spa bathroom.
My favorite part during our stay was the complimentary breakfast. To call it a feast is an understatment, freshly brewed coffee followed by varietis of baked goods are just the start to a culinary experience like no other. The breakfast menu changes depending on the market sourcing only the freshest local goods, for a meal you won’t forget that quick (currently drooling and wishing I had those waffles again 🙁 ).
Lastly the courtyard .. oh the courtyard, this is what dreams are made off. I took my breakfast here and caught up on my emails (free high speed wifi for all my bloggler friends out there) and enjoyed my cup off coffee in the most charming setting in all of Thames street.
Staying at Francis Malbone House in Newport is truly an experience. From the amazing concierge (ask anything!) to the luxury decor, to the delicious breakfast to the ideal location, Francis Malbone is the perfect hotel in Newport, RI to spend a night or two. I’m looking forward to another visit( note to Mary Jane, I’m stopping by to say hi hopefully very soon).
Special thanks to Will the owner who went above and beyond to acomodate me and my family making this experience the most memorable to date.
Thank you Francis Malbone House for hosting us. All opinions are my own.
